Water Supply - Commercial

Liverpool International Business Park

Background

A specialist water treatment consultancy and past colleague of GGS was involved in one of the first retail water supply projects since deregulation in April 2017. They approached GGS to work with them on the provision of a reliable water supply from a borehole to a business park in NW England.

Challenge

The business park is near the coast so the borehole location, structure and subsequent monitoring needed to be designed to guarantee sustainability of supply and avoid saline intrusion into the water supply.

Solution

Jonathan worked with Culligan UK Limited, the water treatment specialists, to design, install and commission a borehole pumping system to deliver up to 100 cubic metres per day across the business park. He also supervised the monitoring system specification and the downhole equipment and installation as well as the integration of the groundwater flow into the water treatment system.

GGS comment

“This project was in the vanguard of a new approach to water retailing, selling to the tenants of the business park. We needed to get it right first time to demonstrate the quality of the water and the sustainability of supply from the outset. Together with the key partners on the project, we delivered this and, 18 months on, the system is operating well.“
